I have a mini-confession to make: I wrote the Tao of Dating books specifically for really smart people. The writing of the books was precipitated by the endemic dating woes on the Harvard campus as I observed them as an advisor and, earlier, indulged in them as a student. Those kids graduate and pretty much continue to have the same dating woes -- only now with fewer single people around who happen to live in the same building and share meals with them every dating trouble. So if they had challenges then, it gets about 1, times worse once they're tossed from the warm womb of their alma mater. From my observations, the following dating challenges seem to be common to most smart people.
A little while back, I posted a piece summarizing a lot of the recent literature, as well as my own opinions, on why dating has become such an impossible chore in recent years. The article received some thoughtful comments and posts, both here, and on the HG Facebook page. Incidentally, I have a full length feature version of this that is much more in-depth that I am trying to shop around… If you have some contacts in the magazine biz, would love some help. So much has been written about the difficulties of succeeding in the dating market, but every single article out dating trouble only mentions the difficulties for women. If it really was the case that every guy could have his pick of the litter, they would be pairing up.
Grab a nice tearjerker, drool dating trouble Edward Twilight, and time will fly by. I cast him a sharp sideways look. How could he do this to me?

Ever notice how some people seem to have all the luck when it comes to dating? They put everyone else — those of us who would like to go on more dates — to dating trouble. All it takes is one step inside the bar or even out their front doorand they are instantly swarmed with potential partners. OK, that may be a bit of an overstatement. But some people really do seem to have it easy. The cool thing to remember, however, is this — those who score dates aren't any more magical or alluring than you. They are simply doing some things right, while you are doing some things wrong. I know you aren't doing anything wrong on purposebut there are certain bad habits that can make dating more difficult.
